Dean's List Requirements by School in the Philippines
Requirements at a glance
Each row comes from that school's own handbook, manual, or registrar page. On the 1.00 to 5.00 scale a lower number is better; on a 4.0 scale a higher number is better.
| School | Lists and cutoffs | Scale | Minimum load | Grade conditions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UP Diliman |
| 1.00 to 5.00, lower is better | At least 15 units of academic credit, or the normal load prescribed | No grade below 3.00 in any academic or non-academic subject |
| UST |
| 1.00 to 5.00, lower is better | A regular student with a full load | No failure and no incomplete grade, PE and NSTP included |
| Mapúa |
| 1.00 to 5.00, lower is better | The curricular number of units for the trimester, and not less than 15 units | No F, 5.00, or ABS in any course in any trimester |
| UEClosest equivalent |
| 1.00 to 5.00, lower is better | Not less than the full load required by the curriculum | No 5.00, D, W, or lapsed LFR in any course in any semester |
| FEU |
| 4.0 (QPA), higher is better | The number of units required by the curriculum, with no dropped course | No failing grades, NSTP and WRP included |
| Ateneo |
| 4.0 (QPI), higher is better | At least 15 academic units | None stated in this handbook passage |
| DLSU |
| 4.0 (GPA), higher is better | At least 12 academic units in the term | No grade below 2.0 in any academic course and no failure in any non-academic course |
Two kinds of scale: 1.00 is best, or 4.0 is best
UP, UST, Mapúa, and UE grade on a 1.00 to 5.00 scale where 1.00 is the highest grade and 3.00 is the lowest passing grade, so a cutoff such as 1.75 means 1.75 or lower. FEU, Ateneo, and DLSU use a 4.0 scale where 4.0 is the highest, so a cutoff such as 3.35 means 3.35 or higher.
The numbers on the two scales do not line up, and no official formula converts one into the other. Compare your average only with your own school's cutoff. See how each scale is defined in grade equivalents by school.
